None of the insulation measures in the house are any use if cold and discomfort are spreading out from the window areas.

The ift Rosenheim (Institute for Window Technology) has examined the subject of “Comfort from Triple Insulation Glass” in a study. Thermal comfort is strongly influenced by the activity of the user, clothing, the room air temperature, room surface temperature and also the movement of the air. The more a room cools down the more heat is withdrawn from the human body. This is very clear in winter with non-laminated double insulation glass, because with an outside temperature of minus 10 °C and a room air temperature of 20 °C such glass has a surface temperature of just 9.5 °C – making a cosy climate impossible in the room. The comfort of the user is already impaired with a difference of more than 3 °C between the air temperature and average surface temperature.

Triple insulation glazing with low U-values prevents heat loss and room air temperatures can be reduced by up to 2 °C without impairing thermal comfort – which in turn makes an important contribution to saving energy.
