So what is photovoltaic?
Photovoltaic is the direct conversion of sunlight into electrical energy by means of solar cells.
The raw material for these cells consists of sand - silicon - a semiconductor. An element that occurs very frequently in nature.
When the sun shines on the solar cell, a direct current voltage forms between the top and bottom. So-called contact fingers collect this energy and carry the electricity out of the side of the cell.
